Reasons for the Season

With the holidays winding down, it is easy to continue on at the fast-paced speed most of us are used to and forget to reflect on the truly memorable moments that made the festive season shine. That said, we always love our jam-packed holiday schedule at Bering’s, but this year’s lineup was exceptionally meaningful and we are excited to share why we think you will agree.

Our 2018 holiday season began with a Hurricane Harvey Holiday Recovery Event. The event took place at both Houston, Texas Bering’s store locations.  Lily DuBose, founder of Lily’s Toy Box, Julie Beasley, author of H is for Harvey, and Harper Mixon, writer and musician of ‘Love Does’ pulled on heartstrings by raising funds as well as awareness for persons affected by Hurricane Harvey. Lily’s Toy Box was further promoted when the talented Lindsey Henry, Fox 26 News Reporter, included precious Lily DuBose in her Small Business Saturday feature. The feature can be viewed by clicking here.

The season continued with the inclusion of the Houston Humane Society, Citizens for Animal Protection (CAP), the Animal Justice League (AJL), Friends for Life (FFL), Houston Animal Rescue Team (HART), and Schnauzer Rescue of Texas (SRT). These animal rights’ non-profits are some of our favorites! And as you may already be aware, we are a pet friendly store and greatly value the safety of animals. The result of including these non-profits during our annual Santa Picture time helped raise funds for each of them, as well as some pet adoptions!

Last, but certainly not least, the most recent holiday event we were able to help champion was by providing gift baskets for four truly amazing girls from Houston’s Hype Freedom School. CuteHeads girls’ clothing line founder, Esther Freedman, invited us to participate by contributing with party favors/gifts for the girls. While there were many amazing fellow participants involved in this meaningful event, Houston Chronicle’s Fashion Editor, Joy Sewing put her beautiful stamp of amazement on it by writing a truly spectacular article, ‘How to Host a Children’s Party’:  https://www.houstonchronicle.com/life/style/fashion/article/How-to-host-a-children-s-party-13482256.php

We hope this blog post inspires you as much as getting involved with these amazing causes have inspired us, and helps you get revved up with joy as you prepare for what is sure to be an extraordinary 2019!!
