First tossed in sheets in the back room of the Agraria shop on Nob Hill in 1970, it’s best described by The New York Times as “uplifting, mysterious and androgynous in its appeal.” A special blend of roses from Bulgaria, rose hips from Chile, French lavender, rosemary from Morocco and cloves from Madagascar is carefully tossed with the original Bitter Orange oil formulation. Each box is still hand-packed and decorated with orange slices, cinnamon sticks, and dried bloom. Over four and a half decades later, it is still referred to as “Park Avenue Potpourri.”
