Lisa Rubenstein & Michael Friedlander

Michael was Lisa’s mystery date at her BBYO chapter event in high school and Lisa’s parents, who were the chaperons, got to witness the sparks between their daughter and her future husband Michael. Lisa cites Michael’s sense of humor as the charm. “He is the funniest person I know! I always tell people I have a front row seat to the funniest show on Earth!” While the pair eventually moved on, they remained in contact through college, and they rekindled their romance after graduation. Michael’s surprise proposal, to which both sides of the family and close friends were invited, was a success, and the couple set out to plan their modern and classic Houston hotel wedding, featuring striking white orchid floral arrangements and decor by Plants N’ Petals. “I walked down the aisle and saw our chuppah for the first time,” says the bride, “and I gasped. The cascading orchids on mirrored pedestals were perfectly lit…it was honestly a dream come true!” Lisa’s stylish satin Monique Lhuillier gown from Joan Pillow Bridal Salon was perfectly complemented by her bridesmaids’ blush gowns from Bella Bridesmaids. For the reception, “The entire ballroom was draped in white, transforming the room into a soft ethereal space” says Lisa, of the inviting tables laden with dramatic floral centerpieces, hanging floral arrangements, monogrammed dance floor and softly glowing candles. A stunning four-tier cake displayed under the chuppah by Susie’s Cakes & Confections was the centerpiece to the evening’s festivities. “Walking into the reception to ‘Signed, Sealed, Delivered’ with ALL of our family and friends around the dance floor was amazing,” recalls Lisa. “Everyone we love was in one room together!” The joyous newlyweds and guests continued to dance and celebrate into the evening, waving customized ‘Finally Friedlander’ light sticks and munching on latenight snacks of Whataburger taquitos and honey-butter chicken biscuits (passed around to guests by the groom himself). “The entire night was incredible!”
